Pro binder
Improved reporting for teachers to monitor their class’ literacy and growth
WHO
Instructional Content Platform, delivering differentiated, non-fiction content aimed at k-12 learners
GOAL
Improve the data and reporting capabilities of the Pro Binder, to incentive teachers to assign articles on the platform
Role
Lead designer, partnering with product and engineering leads
The Process
We began by interviewing members of the pro-teacher community, listening to how they currently track student work, and track growth. We visited with a local, partnered school to observe how teachers were using the existing platform in the classroom, and grading work.
From our research, we were able to identify new metrics to include, and adapt some of the data that teachers are utilizing to keep track of their classroom. Throughout the process, we continued to leverage the pro-teacher community, the testing with teachers to validate our decisions along the way.
Output
Pro Binder
Using our learnings, we rolled out a new dashboard for teachers to monitor and track all student work occurring on the platform, and review their student’s growth.
The Outcome
A beta was launched to the Pro community in time for back to school 2016, with a launch to 100% of pro users in Q1 2017, along with the Teacher Review Page.
